The absorption problem
Why most turmeric supplements are poorly absorbed
Curcumin is fat-soluble and repels water. In the watery environment of your gut, it clumps together — so much of it passes straight through without being absorbed.
Turmeric root itself (the kind you buy as a powder in the supermarket) is only around 2–5% curcumin, so you’d need a lot of it to get a meaningful amount.
Many supplements add black pepper extract (piperine) to slow how your body breaks curcumin down. HydroCurc® takes a different approach — helping curcumin disperse in water so more is absorbed without piperine, which can interfere with medications.
